Where to eat in Des Moines (Vol. 1)

Welcome to Des Moines, all you NCAA fans, game attendees and DSM newbies!

NCAA

Anytime I visit a new city my mind wanders to food – where would the locals eat? What do they recommend? Where are the hidden gems? I’m sure you can relate.

The following are my downtown go-to spots, mostly a walk or Uber ride away from the NCAA hustle & bustle. Coincidentally they align with all the various meal times, including brunch.

Ps. I’m going here today – maybe I’ll see you there!

Beers at Exile Brewing

Hannah @ Exile

Highly recommend the Hannah beer. (No, I’m not biased.)

Champagne (Fridays) at Americana

Americana

Toast to Friday by going to Americana. Go all out with a 1/2 price bottle or just $4 champagne cocktails. Otherwise, they make a mean Moscow Mule which is a nice compliment to the nachos.

Happy Hour at Eatery A

Eatery A

Between 3 to 6 p.m. it’s 1/2 off pizza, wine (+ bottles) and beer.  Yes, every single day. Be sure to order a pizza for yourself and don’t plan on sharing.

Dinner & Drinks at RoCA

Smoking Gun

Two words: Smoking Gun.

Two more words: upcoming post. RoCA has small plates and delicious drinks. You will not be disappointed. I’ll share my love for this place in an upcoming post.

Brunch at Eatery A

Eatery A Brunch

You’re up and probably hungry… stroll on back to Eatery A for their brunch.

“A little something” at Palmer’s Deli & Market
